Different ages, stories, and backgrounds-one church family finding life and faith together.
Who We Are & What We Believe
Real people.
Real God.
At Mountain View Church we are real people who worship and serve a real God. We understand that mission is not just something we do overseas; mission is about who we are.
In a nutshell, we believe in the Trinity, the redemptive acts of Christ on the cross, Water Baptism, Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the ascension ministry gifts.
Authentic
In our expression of love for God—celebrating life with God in a creative, informal style and playing mostly contemporary music that is sometimes a little loud.
Practical
In the way we touch communities with good deeds. Serving in ways that meet needs, build life, re-establish dignity, and create joy.
Truth
As we live and share the good news of Jesus Christ. Praying that others see and experience Jesus as we live to honour Him.
Specifically...
Trinity & Godhead
We believe in the one true and living God who eternally exists in three persons in unity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Holy Scripture
We hold to the divine inspiration and authority of the Holy Scripture as our foundation for faith, life, and truth.
Creation & Humanity
We believe in the original perfection of creation, the inherent corruptness of humanity through the Fall, and the necessity of repentance and regeneration by grace and through faith in Christ alone.
Jesus Christ
We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, triumphant resurrection, ascension, continuing intercession, His Second Coming, and eternal kingdom reign.
Salvation & Justification
Believers receive justification and sanctification through the finished work of Christ, security as they remain in Him, and the promise of future resurrection in an incorruptible body.
Sacraments
We practice the Sacrament of Baptism by immersion and the regular observance of the Lord’s Supper.
Holy Spirit & Gifts
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for believers with supernatural signs empowering the Church for its mission, alongside the gifts of the Spirit for building up the Church and serving the world.
Ascension Ministries
Christ leads the Church through ascension ministries—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers—equipping believers for unity, maturity, and growth.
Stewardship
We believe in the privilege and responsibility of wise stewardship of all that God has given, including the practice of tithing to the local church.
Marriage & Family
Marriage is ordained by God in scripture for the exclusive union between one man and one woman, for their mutual help and comfort.
Beyond Sunday
More than a
Sunday.
Faith isn’t limited to the church building. Our midweek gatherings and local partnerships connect people across Te Aroha throughout the week.
Connect Groups
Life & Faith TogetherOur small groups are an opportunity to engage faith in life connected with others. Each group is unique... most have regular meeting times, some exist to fulfil a need or service while others are informal gatherings around a common interest e.g. food or sport.
Rest Homes
Local Church PartnershipWe partner with other local churches to provide a weekly 30 minute service at Lawrence House and Kenwyn Home. The services are a mix of hymns, prayer and encouragement and are suitable for people of all backgrounds.
Community Dinner
Te Aroha Community InitiativeIn partnership with Te Aroha Springs Community Trust and Te Aroha Baptist Church, we help host regular community dinners. It’s a warm space for families, individuals, and seniors to come together, enjoy great food, and build connection.
